I really wanted to LOVE this book because the paranormal genre is a little lacking in having African American characters for the lead in paranormal books. But there wasn't enough "vampire" for me in this book. The story was fine; I think I hyped myself up to much with the hopes of a majority black paranormal book.Bianca has a hard life and leaves home at an early age. Trying to run from one hard life of prostitution she ends up with a worse lifestyle. After a couple of years she hooks up with Daddy and her life gets better until his jealousy pushes her back to the streets.
She is not on the streets long before Leon comes to save her with promises of love and wealth, just what Bianca has wanted her entire life. But in Leon haste to finally have is true love; he betrays Bianca and Bianca is in no mood to forgive...anyone.
So my issue with the story:
I like the battles that the vampires have and the use of their supernatural powers. There is none of that here because there is no need. The battle is with just plain old humans so of course they are getting picked off left and right, no real challenge yet. The way the book left off I'm guessing there will be a sequel, so I don't know if that will be rectified or the humans will prevail.
The book to me didn't start picking up till around the 42% mark (Kindle Edition). So that first half was spent building up Bianca's life and that's fine but I though it was a little repetitive not to bad but I did do a bit of skimming. I would say about 20% of the book is actual vampire and the other 80% is whore stuff.
The book does have sex but not to bad. If you don't like reading about oral sex then this books is probably not for you because Bianca was giving Superhead a run for her money.

I loved this book! Bianca was a product of her environment and a true freak! I couldn't put this book down and I hope there's a part two!

Vampire Whore by Adenike B. Lucas is a story of a beautiful young woman by the name of Bianca. From an early age, she had to use what she had by any means necessary to survive. One night, she is forced to leave the only home she knew. Never looking back, she heads to Richmond, Virginia where she has high hopes and dreams. Her dreams are soon shattered. While working "The Block," money is not coming in like she thought it would and sometimes she is forced to sleep out on the streets.
Bianca is introduced to Daddy, a notorious pimp who offers her the best of everything and a life she never dreamed of. Feeling as if she was making a deal with the devil but not having a better option, she accepts Daddy and the lifestyle. Bianca figures she is going to be the best at anything she does, so she learns all the tricks of the trade and becomes the best in the business. When a mysterious stranger by the name of Leon comes to town, Daddy is instantly suspicious of what Leon's intentions are for his city. Little does Daddy know that Leon has come for Bianca. Leon has been searching for his eternal love and feels he has found it in Bianca.
Vampire Whore by Adenike B. Lucas was an interesting read to say the least. It reads like an urban fiction novel but with vampires. Vampire Whore is a tale of betrayal, lust, sex and murder. The main two issues I had with this novel were the errors such as the misuse of homonyms and how the novel ended. Other than these two issues, Vampire Whore was a fairly decent read.
Great book!! Easy read and keeps you going! It was different then most books and it had a different ending than what was expected.
This is a great book, i was a easy read, very interesting, and I love it. I think they should make a part two to this book.
Normally, I stay clear of vampire stories in general because I find that the market is oversaturated with them. However, "Vampire Whore was a very pleasant surprise for me. I loved the vivid eroticism as well as the urban grit of the story and actually enjoyed the fact that the supernatural elements of the story did not overpower the realism. In my opinion, it made Bianca's tale more powerful. She was a well-developed character and I truly enjoyed reading every chapter and witnessing her evolution through different stages of her life. I'm definitely looking forward to reading what happens next.
This book was definitely a page-turner from beginning to end. I love the fire that Bianca's character possesses. The book provides wonderful imagery and definitely doesn't disappoint. If there is a book that you must purchase, this book is it.
