DEFENDING ALLYE by Susan Stoker. This is book one of a new series by Ms. Stoker. Having read many of her previous books, I was looking forward to this one. Well, Ms. Stoker did not disappoint! This story tells the tale of Allye and Gray. I adored Allye. She's sweet and a bit quirky and a touch naive, despite having a bit of a rough life thus far. She made me laugh and smile throughout. Gray is tough and rough and uber sexy! He's all about protecting his woman and I LOVE IT! Since this is a book about a mercenary, yes, there is danger and suspense. And, I tell you, Ms. Stoker knows how to write a bad guy. Her villains are often the devil himself and this one was no exception. I found I was often anxious, not knowing when or if the villain would strike. This story encompasses a lot - love, family and friends, danger and even a bit of heartbreak. Ms. Stoker, you have hit this one out of the park! I cannot wait for book two!

Everything about this new series by Susan Stoker is bigger and more intense! The heroes, Gray, Ro, Meat, Arrow, Ball, and Black, are all big men, former military warriors. The bad guy is repugnant, disgusting, and icy evil. The storyline is complicated and suspenseful. The relationship between Gray and Allye is sultry, lush, and hot, hot, hot.

The Mountain Mercenaries are controlled by Rex, but none of the men have ever met him. He has the money and information to assign the missions. Their war is sex trafficking and any other situation where women or children need their help. Allye is a dancer 💃 with unique features who has been kidnapped. Rex is certain the culprit is Gage Nightingale, a leader of an underground group involved in trafficking women and children. Gray and Black were sent out to intercept the exchange of the money for Allye and maybe find her.

This is a fast-moving story with well-designed characters and is an entertaining read. The next book in the series is set up at the end. Cannot get much better than author Susan Stoker for romantic suspense!
I will always be a huge fan of Susan Stoker and her books. Everything I had heard about this new series by Susan Stoker suggested that I was going to love it! Well I definitely do. Beginning with Defending Allye is a perfect start to the Mountain Mercenaries series. From the moment she opened her mouth, Allye became one of my top favorite heroines of Susan (and I love all of her heroines). Gray...well there are almost no words to describe him. HOT, HERO are two words that come to mind. Did I mention HOT and HERO because seriously HOT HERO! To see why he is both of those descriptions and then some, then you have to read this book. Every single page will keep you invested and intrigued. Susan does not tackle easy subjects, but she does it in a way that entertains you as this is a romance book, but is also informative and makes you think. I spent so much of the book incredibly grateful that there are people like Gray (and the rest of the Mountain Mercenaries) in the world willing to help when he is needed. I also spent much of the book praying for all of those who may be going through what happens in the book. I am also grateful for strong women like Allye. I know I am being extremely vague, but you need to read the book and I do not want to ruin learning anything about what specifically happens while you are reading it. Defending Allye is a must read for any Susan Stoker fan. If you are new to Susan and are a fan of extremely hot alphas, beautiful strong and sassy heroines, fabulous stories and books you do not want to put down, then Defending Allye is for you. If you are new to Susan I also suggest you read all of her books as she is one of my favorite authors and I enjoy re-reading her books often. I am looking forward to all of the future books in this series and to learning all about all of the men who make up the Mountain Mercenaries. Enjoy!
I have been looking forward to Stoker’s new series Mountain Mercenaries and was definitely not disappointed. This new series is a spin-off from her Ace Security series and this book was a hit from the first page to the last. Who does not love a good rescue story that is dicey at every turn, keeps your pulse pounding, has unexpected elements and a hot alpha SEAL who takes no prisoners? That is just some of what you get with this amazing story.

Allye Martin has had a rough go with life, mostly due to her appearance. From her uniqueness, she has always stood out and had trouble. She was bullied, made fun of and called all sorts of names leaving her emotionally and mentally scarred. She has struggled hard to get where she is and has always thought karma was her enemy. It seemed like every time something good was on the horizon, something bad would take its place and it would be worse. Case in point, when she was snagged off the street and held captive on a boat being taken to who knows where. I love the fact that even in the worst of circumstance, she was resilient and kept a level head and was able to help herself and even her rescuer.

Gray Rogers was a former Navy SEAL and current mercenary working with a specialized team of ex-special forces men under the direction of the mysterious Rex. Currently working on a sex trafficking case, an ocean rescue was an unexpected complication to his current mission. Expecting to interrupt an exchange and gather necessary intel to mount a rescue, the strong spirited woman with unique eyes was a surprise. Realizing that she was their intended rescue changed the game and upped the stakes. He was intrigued by her spirit and drawn to her strength and wit. Knowing the man behind Allye’s abduction would try again and stop at nothing to obtain his goal, Gray would do whatever it took to protect her and bring the monster to justice.

The bad guy, Nightingale, was a creepy messed up guy. He was a collector, of sorts, and had his sight set on Allye. He was menacing and depraved enough to have the hairs on your arms rising and goosebumps pebbling your flesh. Stoker definitely knows how to write a villain.

Aside from the main characters, Gray and Allye, the introduction of the rest of the team members had me wanting to learn more about them right away. They all sound intriguing and I know they will have awesome stories to tell.

You can always count on Stoker’s books to entertain you from beginning to end. They are easy to read, full of great characters, romance and suspense. They always involve strong women who can handle themselves and gruff alpha men who take charge and go after what they want. And they include challenges that have to be overcome along with a twisted bad guy to keep you on your toes and guessing. Stoker brings to light problems the average person faces, being weight, self-esteem, speech impediments, etc. and handles them with care and respect. Defending Allye will be a great addition to your book collection. I know I will enjoy it added to mine.
