I honestly cannot see why the high ratings for the Remington series. Especially this one, which was two adults behaving like teenagers. I purchased the first three books in this series of books on a free offer. The first seemed like every other word was the F bomb, or some other form of profanity. The story line was fairly decent. The second I enjoyed the most and it was quite good. The third book was ok, but nothing special. I bought this book because I thought maybe the author would step it up a bit with the playboy brother, boy was I wrong. This book was just plain boring, and there was not much of a story line to it. Two professional olympic skiers have been friends since teens. At 29 and 32 , they discover they "love" each other and spend the rest of the book doubting each other, and struggling for the upper hand in the relationship. Many chapters of boring, repetitive conversations without much story.

Rush and Jayla have been best friends for fifteen years. He never saw her as anything other than that until Jack opened his eyes and he realized that he was using women as a feeler. Once he realized he had feelings, different feelings then what he had always accustomed to, he knew that he had to keep those feelings to himself.

Jayla had been in love with Rush for a very, very long time. She was good at hiding her feelings because Rush never looked at her any differently then he always hide. Now that he was though she had to keep her feelings to herself because she needed Rush around more than anything so she didn't want to leave the friend zone or does she?

I wasn't a fan of Jayla at first she was too bitchy in my eyes. Rush though I loved from the get go. It wasn't until they left the just friend zone and start opening up to each other that I started likely Jayla and even then, I sometimes wanted slap the crap out of her.

This is another great book by Melissa Foster, I can't wait to read the next Remington story featuring Kurt who's the writer.

The dialogue between Jayla and Rush is perceptive and realistic. It not only demonstrates the deep and meaningful friendship they share, but also the fears they both have that trying to move beyond friendship could end their relationship forever. The pace and development of the story is well thought out and lets readers feel joys and frustration along with the characters. The buildup and eventual ignition of the passion between Rush and Jayla is hot and reminds readers that friends can definitely become lovers.

Rush’s struggle between being Jayla’s friend and her boyfriend does knock him down a few notches on the ‘alpha male’ scale, but he finds his way eventually without appearing overly weak. Jayla’s anxieties over the pending changes in her life, both good and bad, bring out her melodramatic side, but her inner strength shows up once she learns to trust both herself and Rush’s feeling for her.

Fans of the series will be ‘updated’ on the life status of couples and family members from previous books. New readers will fall in love with Rush and Jayla as they struggle to find a place where the love of a sport and the love of the heart will complement each other, not complete against one another.

There's something about best friends realizing they are in love that just gets to me. I've always got a mushy heart, but more so for these types of tales. So of course I loved this book.

One of my misgivings with the last book was how the author tried shoving every character from the long series into one book and it got confusing. Of course Rush 's family was mentioned and some even made an appearance, but it was handled much better this time. Possibly because Rush doesn't live right by the rest of them on a regular basis. In fact, it seemed like there was more info on Jayla's family than the Remingtons which makes me wonder if the Stone family will be next in line for these books.

I respected how Ms Foster handled those feelings of "what an I without my sport" as I've found these to be very true to life whether in sports, business or the arts. What I was a bit disappointed in was the way the relationship between Jayla and Marcus at the beginning of the book was handled. I understand Rush's inaction, that was realistic since many friends/family members will often think they're reading too much into these situations. I also like the inner thoughts of Jayla during this time. Men who abuse somehow make even the strongest women feel as though it's their own fault. It was how easily that relationship ended that I didn't like. It's the same thing I didn't like about "Destined for Love". I would hate for a naive woman to think creeps like Marcus just walk away from these situations. What could have been used as a PSA of sorts ended up really lacking.

Other than that blip, this was another great story and I can't wait to read the final Remington saga.
